Isla’s 5-month update

Isla Emiliana Van Vreede is growing so quickly! Her middle name was inherited from my great, great grandmother. Isla’s personality is showing through more everyday. I’m savoring all of the moments with my little babe. She keeps me busy. I’m already dreaming about all of the fun things I want to do with my girl as she grows.

We do our best to read to her often and keep her on a routine. There are times when she is the judge of that. Hey, the girl knows what she likes. She is learning new things weekly. Like just this past week she is able to sit up on her own, without back support and grab her feet. Whenever I read to her she looks at every page and looks at all of the pictures. Every morning she’ll patiently wait for us to pick her up in her crib. When we stand at her crib, she has the biggest smile from ear to ear.

We often get the question how is life with a baby? It’s truly wonderful, in every way! Your heart grows an exponential amount! We have soo much love for our girl! She is the sweetest baby! For all of the soon-to-be parents it takes about two weeks to get adjusted with your new life. After that it becomes just that, your new normal. The first few weeks after bringing baby home can be rough due to the lack of sleep. Isla was feeding every 30 minutes to an hour the first week. After week 2 she slept longer stretches and would wake every 2-3 hours to eat. I would feed her on demand. This was consistent for her until 2 months. Isla slept longer stretches but would wake up to feed at around 4 am and 7 am pretty consistently from 2-5 months. Once your baby is on a consistent sleeping schedule you’ll be able to catch up on more zzz’s. I think a lot of their sleep schedule just depends on their nutritional needs. Every baby is so different! I wasn’t producing enough milk so we had to supplement with formula. I still pump every few hours to ensure she gets some breast milk. The doctor said even the little she gets, allows her to get the antibodies to fight off sickness. I’m looking forward to all of the memories we’ll continue to make with our sweet girl!

Long time reader, first time commenter — so, thought I’d drop a
comment.. — and at the same time ask for a favor.

Your wordpress site is very simplistic – hope you don’t mind me
asking what theme you’re using? (and don’t mind if I steal it?

    :P)

I just launched my small businesses site –also built in wordpress like yours– but the
theme slows (!) the site down quite a bit.

In case you have a minute, you can find it by searching for “royal cbd” on Google (would appreciate any feedback)

Keep up the good work– and take care of yourself during the coronavirus scare!
