These photos were taken awhile back in the Bahamas. I wanted a way capture my pregnancy as much as I could for memories. I think its a fun to see the progress of my growing belly. I’m sure I’ll look back one day and say “wow look at what my body did?!” It amazes me to see how our bodies can grow and transform during pregnancy.
How I’ve been feeling
First off I looove being pregnant! This pregnancy has been a breeze. I’ve had no morning sickness, which I thought was weird at first. Everyone I spoke to had morning sickness so it was unusual that I didn’t have any. I’m definitely not complaining. My mom said she never had any either, it could very well be genetic. Maybe it’s God’s way of taking it easy on me, since we struggled with infertility and miscarriage.
Right before we got pregnant with our baby girl. I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks. It was absolutely devastating. We went in for an ultrasound and to our shock our baby stopped growing. So it was definitely a blessing when 2 months later we conceived our little miracle ‘rainbow’ baby.
Cravings/Aversions
I started off my first trimester craving really salty, spicy and sour foods. Pickles, Flaming Hot Cheetos, and everything with hot sauce. Lemon water was my go-to and the only drink to quench my thirst. All of the fruit I ate had to have the spice — Tajin which is a Mexican seasoning it adds a chili lime flavor. Now I’m into my second trimester and my cravings have shifted to the sweeter side. Ice-cream or anything dairy I can’t seem to get enough of. The only food adversion I’ve had this pregnancy was with shrimp. I’ve eaten shrimp twice and it made me so sick each time. So that is something I steer away from. I do love shrimp when I’m not pregnant. I love smoothies and haven’t had enough lately, so I definitely want to start making them at home to get some more healthy choices in my diet!
Biggest Highlight
The highlight of the first trimester was hearing my baby’s heartbeat for the first time. In the second trimester it was feeling her kick inside me. It’s the most amazing feeling in the world! I still remember the very first time I felt them. Tony and I were having a date night at the movie theater and I felt a little thump. 30 seconds later, I felt 2 more thumps. She is definitely letting us know she is in there. I look forward to her kicks daily. I notice them more at night when I’m home relaxing after a long work day. One of the things I’m looking forward to the most is seeing Tony become a father. He is going to the best dad to our little girl!
Biggest Challenge
The biggest challenge was finding clothes that fit me. After I hit 14 weeks, I didn’t attempt at wearing my old pants. I had trouble finding work clothes too. I’ve been living in maternity leggings with longer maternity tops and cardigans. This helped me feel more put together at work. My favorite maternity stores are H&M (maternity), ASOS maternity, Pink Blush, A Pea in a Pod, and Motherhood. I also highly recommend wearing maternity underwear. The panties are made for your growing bump. So you won’t have to size up when buying these.
Nesting
We’ve already picked out baby girls crib which I am obsessed with! It’s super modern and unlike anything I’ve seen. We also purchased the glider and dresser. It should be shipped in another month or so. I’m looking forward to putting it all together once we get the pieces in. My next project is to find some wall art and a few more key pieces like a lamp, pouf and side table that will make the nursery complete.
Staying fit
Working out and staying fit have always been a priority. I’ll try to work out atleast 3 times a week in the morning with squats and lunges. Now that I’m in the 2nd trimester I plan on doing a weekend pre-natal work out class. I’m hoping it helps with the sciatica nerve pain I’ve beeen experiencing. Once the weather warms up a bit I plan on hikes and light jogs to help with endurance during labor.
Fears
One of the fears I have is the labor and delivery part. I’ve heard so many horror stories of the things that could go wrong. I’m hoping for the best possible outcome. Im hoping the workouts and stretch’s will help. My mom tells me how she had all 4 of her pregnancies without the epidural. She is such a champ! I’m 100 percent doing an epidural with this pregnancy. I’ll just keep my eyes on the prize and the moment I get to meet our sweet tiny angel.
That’s all the updates for now. I hope you guys have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by!
